DNA
Swab & Saliva Kit
DNA Swab & Saliva Kit is designed for a rapid and efficient purification of high quality DNA from human swabs (such as buccal, nasal, pharyngeal and vaginal swabs) as well as from saliva. The isolation protocol and buffer formulations were optimized for high isolation efficiency and DNA purity.
Description
DNA purification procedure utilizes spin mini columns with membranes which efficiently and selectively bind nucleic acids. A swab or saliva sample is subjected to enzymatic lysis by Proteinase K in DS-L Buffer. In this step, cell walls, membranes and proteins are degraded by lysis buffer and Proteinase K. After addition of chaotropic salts, lysate is applied to purification mini column membrane and DNA is bound. A three-step washing stage effectively removes impurities and enzyme inhibitors. The purified DNA is eluted using either a low ionic strength buffer (GS-E Buffer), distilled water or TE Buffer. The purified DNA can be used in PCR and real-time PCR.
